(also tho') --conj. 1 despite the fact that (though it was early we went to bed; though annoyed, I agreed). 2 (introducing a possibility) even if (ask him though he may refuse; would not attend though the Queen herself were there). 3 and yet; nevertheless (she read on, though not to the very end). 4 in spite of being (ready though unwilling). --adv. colloq. however; all the same (I wish you had told me, though). Etymology: ME thoh etc. f. ON th{oacute} etc., corresp. to OE theah, f. Gmc
